    These rifles don't lock the bolt open on the last round, right? I was interested up until I read about that.

    that is correct.
    very few European rifles do that, seems to be more of an american thing.

    it also will keep crap out of the action in combat situations.

    doesn't matter, its all a point on training, its easy to slap mag in, rack bolt, etc...

    not everything can be automated cupcake
