Default VPC says tough NY gun laws save lives

Saw an article in the NY Post that the Violence Policy Center says that New York states tough gun laws are saving lives. Yeah, right! Gee, why haven't I seen any info from them on how Chicago's gun ban is working so great or New Jersey's "tough" gun laws have kept firearms out of the hands of criminals. Somehow I believe they just might be leaving something out with their satistics.

    You mean this?

    Or the Firearm Death Chart!

    PA is ranked 25th.

By contrast, states with strong gun laws and low rates of gun ownership had far lower rates of firearm-related death
I think I just puked in my mouth.

The Violence Policy center is a misleading name. It should really be named the Tyranny Furtherance Statistical Clearinghouse. It is clearly evident that our founding fathers intended us to keep and bear arms in defense of liberty and the free state. There is no bullshit about "safety" or "the children" as a reasonable man with a weapon or an entire country of reasonable people with weapons is far safer then unarmed sheep waiting to be under the boot heel of a totalitarian fear monger.

Liberty is not cheap, it requires payment in blood and our founding fathers knew that well. They tried to set the stage for many generations of us to continue to enjoy the sweet taste of freedom. Sadly, many voluntarily give that up for lesser benefit.

very interesting, to say the least....we hear so much about criminals, they had clean records at one time before being caught!..having a gun permit doesnt stop you from becoming a criminal!

Study includes deaths by suicide; no surprise that the states with the highest rate of suicide and lowest populations are on there; it is a simple function of math that a death in a lower population state will have a greater impact on the death rate.

    Example:

Given a population of 1000 people; there is one firearm murder and one suicide.
0.002% of your population has been killed by firearms.

Increase your population to 10,000. Say two firearms murders and five suicides (about ten times the actual rate). That is 0.0007%

The two and five are fairly average for a city of 100,000, or .00007%

Like the man says: lies, damn lies, and statistics.

Might want to check your math . . .
