Re: Advanced Defensive Carbine
haha no worries. I got enough flack from Pete making light comments on my "toy" gun it was all in good nature and made us laugh while in constant low-ready position.
I know some people have heard of it but very few have seen one in person and there are actually a lot of people who have never heard of one.

Ha, he was bangin steel at 200 yards with that puppy. Sure he had to hold a foot over but it did eventually gong
Hope you decide to come out Nick. It'd be fun to take it to the next level with ya. Just think, it's only a 3.5 - 4 hour drive for you. If i can drive out 4.5 - 5 hours for a class you can too . Lucky for me, this one is only 1.5 hours away.
I am pretty sure that i am going to take this class. Still need to do some checking on schedule but it is looking good so far.

Re: Advanced Defensive Carbine
Has there been many signed up for this class yet?
I'm still kicking it around.
Could you explain Mr. Hurley's instructor roll with Blackwater?
Or maybe i'm reading it wrong and he was an instructor for the U.S. Department of State Diplomatic Security Service WPPS program and not BW. But the wording is kind of unclear and i'm not familiar with all the "jargon". So, just what does all that mean?
Also, when does the money need to be paid? Is there a deadline to sign up?
Mr. Hurley has most recently been an Intelligence and Operations Trainer for the Counter-IED Operations Integration Center. Previous to that, he operated in Afghanistan serving as a Protective Security Specialist/Firearms Instructor for the U.S. Department of State Diplomatic Security Service WPPS program with USTC (Formerly Blackwater Worldwide). Mr. Hurley provided protection and security for visiting VIPs that have included White House visitors, members of Congress, and Governors. In addition, Mr. Hurley provided firearms training and re-qualification to DoS Diplomatic Security RSO and Blackwater personnel.Last edited by Guns4Fun; July 23rd, 2010 at 08:44 PM.

Re: Advanced Defensive Carbine
Guns 4 Fun,
Thanks for your continued intrest. There Have not been many that have met the pre requsites for this course. You must have a solid varifiable background with the carbine. Also D.A.T. will not cancel classes just based on enrollment, we feel that if you take the time to sign up then we will train you. The minimums are posted as a guideline.
The info regarding payment and registration deadline can be found on the website under the Firearns courses tab.
I was a High Threat Instructor with blackwater before I deployed to Afghanistan as a Protective Security Specialist /Firearms Instructor
[COLOR="SandyBrown"]Since 2004, Mr. Hurley has been a black belt instructor for The United States Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP), the Center for Anti-Terrorism and Naval Security Forces, and most recently Blackwater Worldwide.

Re: Advanced Defensive Carbine
Kris, thanks for the info. I'll go read the tab about enrolment.
I'll get the check out in the next week or so.
So, really - if I’m the only one who signs up you still have the class?
I'm good on the prerequisite - I took a 3 day basic carbine class with The Fire Institute back in May of this year.
I’m looking forward to training with you.
Carl
EDIT - I registered on line - i didn't realize you took CC payments.
Again, looking forward to learning from you.Last edited by Guns4Fun; July 28th, 2010 at 09:02 PM.

Re: Advanced Defensive Carbine
That is great news. I can't wait.
Do you send out any mailings to confirm the class? I do have my email confirmation but the last class I took sent out a course outline with some topics that would be covered as well as directions to the facility.
Just wondering.

Re: Advanced Defensive Carbine
Guns4Fun,
Typically we utilize an all electronic confirmation process.
As for the directions, here is a link to PSA's directions page. http://www.palmyrasportsmens.com/doc...DIRECTIONS.pdf
Looking forward to training with you in 2 weeks."When Knowledge Counts and Experience Matters"

Re: Advanced Defensive Carbine
Thank you.
Is there any special meeting spot at the facility?
What I mean is. is there more than one club house? Do we meet in the club house? Do we all meet in the parking lot?
I'm just trying to see how things run for this class.
Last class I took there were multiple classes going on. It took a few conversations before I found out I was with the wrong group hanging in the parking lot. They were the pistol group and not the carbine group.
Plus, they had an electronic gate that you needed a card key to get in or out of the range area. They had it open but on the last day i spent too much time "cleaning up" and got locked in until i found someone with a key to let me out.
Sorry for being a pita with the questions but i'm kinda a details kinda guy and i like to know what is going on.
Thank you

Re: Advanced Defensive Carbine
No need to apologize the Devil is in the details. To quote a "B" movie classic "Chance favors the prepared mind"
PSA Has one main club house with a clearly marked entrance so you should be good there. We typically hang out greeting everyone in the main reception area.
One possible source of confusion is getting to the clubhouse. As you enter the club property you will pass under a large sign and be travelling down. Soon after entering the property there is a road that branches off to the right, you need to stay straight and continue down the lane to the main parking lot and lodge.
So I'm not the only guy to have to do the "call somone to release me" routine. No worries here, there is no self closing/locking gate.
Any other questions please feel free to fire away!"When Knowledge Counts and Experience Matters"
