Default "Gunsmith" screwdrivers - The good, the bad and the ugly...

I have been looking for a good small set of gunsmith screwdrivers to replace the set of Chapmans that someone stole from me. I have gone through DAC and Pachmayr-don't waste your money. I have a set of each with broken and twisted blades and several ripped up screws to their credit.
I see Chapman 8900 kits are still available for around $30... the one I had was bought back in the 1970's when I got out of the Army and is probably still going strong. I KNOW there are other fine sets out there, but these are the ones I am familiar with, and Chapman is the only ones I will buy from now on.

    FWIW.

ADDED: I am by no means a gunsmith - I am a 40+year surplus and just old rifle and handgun shooter who likes to make his own repairs and see how they work. As I said, I am SURE there are many good tools out ther - this is just what I have personally used.

    Thanks.

+1 on the Chapmans. Can't do any better.

Magna-Tip Professional Superset is *the* best in the business. You get what you pay for.

    They also sell smaller sets.

Go to Brownells, the Magna-Tip are the best I've ever used.

There was just an article in American Riflemen or Shooting Illustrated about tools like this.

Always go for quality, it may save you scratches and striped screws.

    Midway has some nice stuff.

I bought the Wheeler Engineering set from MidwayUSA. While it serves its purpose for me, I regret not getting the Magna-Tip set from Brownell's.
I mostly use them for mounting scopes or for removing a barrelled action from a stock. The Wheeler set serves me well, but it is worth noting that at least a third of the bits are very unevenly cast, with some flat blades being a good deal thicker on one end than the other.
