Any 1911 shooter?
So how good do you shoot your goverment size 1911 in 45ACP at 25yrds?
I shoot my Para ordnance PX745S generally at 12 yrds. I get about 2~3" group with Winchester 230gr FMJ.
I've hear many people talking shooting that in 25 yrds. And my best at 25yrds aren't anywhere near that.
So i'm just curiousAudemus jura nostra defendere

Re: Any 1911 shooter?
I have a Springfield Armory 1911. It is a older model before all the bells and whistles they have today. It shot 3 inch groups at 25yds from the factory. Since then I have tighten the gun up. I had the barrel hood and feet welded up. I bought a gunsmith under/ over sized bushing and fit it all with files and emery cloth. Now it shoots 1.5 inch groups at 25yds from sandbags with my IPSC/IDPA load of 4.7 WST and a 200gr LSWC.
2-3 inch groups at 12yds means 4-6+inch groups at 25yds. I would think Para would have some sort of accuracy guarantee and would fix it.
Good Luck,
Walt

Re: Any 1911 shooter?
Check it off sandbags. Get a good target (smaller bulls eye) and have a consistent sight picture. If it doesn't do 3inches or less I would contact Para. If the gun and load can than look at the loose nut holding the grip.
After a Club IDPA match we hung 12inch balloons at 100yds. Once you figure out the holdover (almost none) it should be every shot standing.
Practice! Practice! Practice!

Re: Any 1911 shooter?
I can't shoot off of a sandbag to save my life... Atleast not with a pistol... Offhand however, that's a different story...
I like guns... And boobs...

20 yards two hand hold unsupported
I find timing is what I have to control again and age is gaining on me at 61 the brain and body don't worl like they use too.
I have to say I just finished the mil-spec: with the help of LONGSLIDE I did all the work myself
Upgraded the NM mil-spec
New sear McCormick
combat hammer McCormick
cylinder and slide on the sear spring
Wilson on the combat trigger
polished all internal parts
tweak the sear spring
upgraded to a commander grip safety 80 series
trigger will break now at 46oz
The above target trigger broke at 55oz it should do a little better now at the range.
I was lucky to get the NM SA 1911 seem it has the matched barrel and stainless bushing and assembled in the USA

Shot my buddy's old Ithaca/Essex 1911 and hit 5 outta 5 with it on steel at 25 yds. Very comfortable gun to shoot. Pretty nice...A little beat up but it is a shooter that is for sure.

Re: Any 1911 shooter?
Biggest issue with me is that I was just diagnosed with stigmitism on my Right eye, which is my dominant eye. So i see double.
I'll have to try to use sandbag to see what gun itself is capable of shooting at 25yds
I believe my match grade barreled Para should be able to shoot little better.Last edited by Mity2; October 4th, 2007 at 08:09 PM.

I shoot 1.5-2 inch groups at 25 yards with my factory Para SSP with Remington 230gr Golden Sabers. That's better than my Kimber PRO CDP ll.
