Re: Springfield XD-40 sights question.
You can take the gun to a gun smith and they can adjust them for you. But it is not something that you can do very easily yourself. What the gunsmith will do is take and push the sights either right or left depending on how it shoots. If it shoots low, they can remove the front sight and file a little off the bottom of it. This will raise the sights some. But these are permanent fixes, and generally not done.
How far were you shooting? With fixed sights, the gun will be sighted in at one distance. Anything less or more will just take getting used to the gun to know how it shoots.

Re: Springfield XD-40 sights question.
It probably doesn't shoot low right, you are probably breaking your wrist.
Before you blame the firearm, have a guy at the range fire a few rounds. If he hits the mark then you know it is your technique that doesn't work well with this firearm..
Typically this is how it goes.. Why? Because they are fixed sights made specifically to shoot perfectly straight for a Target 25 yards out...
You're shooting at 25 feet!
If anything you should be hitting high!
They make the sights so that the barrel is pointed slightly up from level so that it compensates for the bullet falling, hence why people say the bullet will "rise" after being fired. However it never goes higher than the barrels top axis..
It's highly doubtful that it was a manufacturing defect especially when that's the spot most right handed shooters will hit while performing the typical error for a right handed shooter...Last edited by whoshisface; October 3rd, 2007 at 06:58 PM.

Re: Springfield XD-40 sights question.
springfield XD sights are set up for 6 o'clock not POA how are you looking at the sights, that could be the low part, how do you have you finger on the trigger, you need the pad of your finger on the trigger not the joint, if you have it on the joint it tends to pull when you fire it.
