    Default schip

Consider this,at present there are supposedly 37 million children under 18 in this country W/O health insurance. If a Govt program insures all persons under 18 whos parent makes less than 80,000 many if not most employers will as quickly as posible drop your kids from health penifits thereby expanding the # of kids eligable for the Govt program by at least two fold. Also it is unlikely that a Govt paid program would be as comprehensive as an employres PPO plan.

The estimated cost of schip is 20 billion but if many formerly covered by employer benifits become eligable the cost could double or trilpe very quickly.

So instead of expanding the program to cover "children" up to 25 y.o. and families that earn up to $80,000. Why not just reauthorize the program as it exists now?

Because this version is federally mandated and partially federally funded, to just keep it as is would be of no political advantage to either major party.

If the numbers you list are correct, wouldn't it be cheaper to just give each kid a million in an annuity ?

No kidding. If your family makes $80k a year there is no reason you can not provide health insurance for your children. You know what.. If you can't provide health insurance and food for your kids perhaps you should not have kids. I'm tired of paying for everyone elses mistakes..

I'm 30 and just having our first kid, I've waited this long because I wanted to be in a better position. Why should I be paying so some deadbeat can have kids early?

I'm also tired of seeing all these starvign people in africa. You can't feed yourself so you have 5 kids. WTF!!!

Unless I did my math wrong. 74 million kids and 20 billion dollars is $270 per kid.

Man this is a great idea, it will actually save me money..

Here's a novel idea... get rid of health insurance for every day stuff and only have catastrophic insurance.

Then maybe the price of the average doc visit might go down a bit....

(says I who has a health savings account)

f'n socialists had to screw it all up and leave us to clean it up.
