Low post count and F/S section
When is there going to be a rule about people with a low post count to not be able to post in the F/S section? I have been screwed by 3 members with low post counts and luckily did not loose any money but I "did" look forward to receive the guns I "thought" I'd bought in that section.
To many times I hear from friends that this occurs many many times and 99% of the time by people with post counts that do not exceed 30. I just left a negative feedback here http://forum.pafoa.org/feedback-109/...-panix122.html because I felt I needed to warn people.
Why not set a 75 post standard and a positive rep of at least 50 before you are able to post in the "For Sale" section? You can only get smarter by playing a smarter opponent

Re: Low post count and F/S section
Personally, I don't think its very fair to assume that all NEW members (with little posts) are BAD members. I also don't think people with a low post count shouldn't be able to buy or sell. I have been on here for about a year. I mostly read, learn, buy, sell, and have slowly started posting. My post count is only 13. I don't even know how rep points work, but I have none. I do however, have only positive feedback. Also, if I were made to post 75x, it would all be BS, just to get my numbers up. Just my 2cents. Sorry you've been burned, it sucks. People should say what they do, and do what they say.

Re: Low post count and F/S section
At least you didn't lose any money, so there's that bit of good news.
To play devil's advocate, I can't tell you how many times someone has PM'd me saying "hey, I want the XYZ you're selling... when can we meet?" and then even though I respond 15 minutes later I never hear from them again. It's a weird thing that isn't totally unique to this site but it happens a lot here. For whatever reason some people take time to send a message and then disappear, so I guess it's a smart move by the seller to take the sure thing.
All that said, it's probably a good idea never to consider a deal done until you have the money/item in hand. Even on auction sites you have very little recourse so it pays to be careful.

Re: Low post count and F/S section
I have brought this up a few times with the admin, other sites I belong to have a 50 post minimum rule to access the ad forums(with strictly enforced anti junk posting)... it helps cut down the scammers.
the issue here is some people sign up JUST to answer an ad, and never post anywhere on the forum.
I myself just add them to the "SH*T List" and never deal again."Oderint Dum Metuant" - BMFH

Re: Low post count and F/S section
Sorry, Jay. I just don't see it that way. It's an a'la carte thing. And "caveat emptor" applies, however many posts the other party has, or rep up the wazoooo.
If a persons signs up to merely use the classifieds, how is that different from a person who signs up to only post gunporn, or to post only in the political forum, or reloading section, and NEVER uses the classifieds?
I go to Walmart for the shoes, you go to buy ammo and targets, and Mrs. Flash buys draperies - but none of us get our groceries there? Same logic.
If a guy answers my FS ad, does a good deal with me, how is that a problem?

If you want to back out of a sale because you want to keep your item then that is fine with me. But "do not" promise the sale and then in the mean time go behind that persons back and sell it to someone else. That is just plain rude and Unethical. You can only get smarter by playing a smarter opponent

The more guns for sale and the more buyers that are out there the better in my opinion.
