    Default 1911 condition 2 carry?

Hi all, Just wondering if anybody carry thier series 80 1911 in condition 2?

Just Purchased a lightweight Para LTC covert for saummer carry but am not comfy with condition 1, yes i did tried carrying around the gun for 3 days in condition 1 and no the gun did not fire and no the safety did not come off but still not comfy with condsition 1 (i'm open to flaming) , so any body carry in C-2 and how quick did you get in getting the gun on target chamber loaded as opposed to C-!?

    Thanks nyman

The US Cavalry rode on horseback with their 1911's in Condition 1. I think if they can ride at full gallop on a horse with it C&L, it is safe. In fact, I could not think of a better advertisement for a safe gun.

C2 is asking for trouble....no other way of saying it. Condition 1 or Condition 3; never Condition 2.

    can't say that I do

you'll be comfortable dropping the hammer on a loaded chamber, but not putting on the safety and leaving it be?

You should get some quality formal training.

If you're uncomfortable carrying condition 1, buy a different gun.

I'll give ya $500 for the Para. That's enough for you to buy a Glock ;-)

Skullz i have 3 Glocks, 26,32,17, but they just dont like the way they point and they always shoot high unlike my 1911's and Sigs, . JUst to think that there is a 200 grn Gold Dot sitting under that cocked hammer!

I guess if C1 is safe enough for soldiers on horse back, its safe enough, i guess i'll give it a shot (no pun intended)

I did , but that was 15 years ago, USAF LE , Guarded Ramstein, AFB as well as Bentwaters in England, underground Tactical Nuclear base, been there done that, has nothing to do with how to carry a 1911.

Yes it does. My instructor was shooting a kimber as was I. He explained why he carried in condiction one. He told me that will be part of the training I will be taking in the future. In one of the classes I had one of the guys had some trouble. He had to unlearn what he was taught as ways to do things in the military.

    1 or 3. Not 2.

I'm not sure why people think cocked and locked is unsafe. That is how the gun was designed. Personally I think it is less safe droping the hammer on a loaded round and riding with the hammer down than just racking slide and locking the gun.
