Can another carry my registered gun
Okay! Hi all! I am new here. I have a question... I have a CCW permit and so does my adult son (24) who lives in the same house. Can he carry a handgun which I bought and is registered to me, for protection. I have tried to search the Pa Carry laws but there are so many it can get confusing. As I said he does have his CCW permit too.

Re: Can another carry my registered gun
Welcome! And I see you're a fellow Bucks Co. neighbor.
If you search around here, you'll discover a few things:
1. Folks here HATE it when you call it a CCW license here in PA -- to the purists, it's a LTCF (License To Carry Firearms), unless you've got a license from another state with which PA has reciprocity.
2. PA does allow the "loaning" of a sidearm to someone who has a LTCF. I need to find the cite for you, but it's somewhere here in the forums if you search for "loan" or "loaner". Probably in the carry forums.
3. Others here will also tell you that PA does not legally have a firearms registry, though the PA State Police apparently does maintain it.
As I said, welcome -- best to lurk and simply read through a whole bunch of threads, that's how I've learned a lot about the laws.

A handgun can be loaned to another person who has a LTCF "Pa does not have a CCW".
This is a site that you can look gun laws up at.

Check out 18 Pa CSA 6115:
§6115. Loans on, or Lending or Giving Firearms Prohibited.
(a) Offense defined.—No person shall make any loan secured by mortgage, deposit or pledge of a firearm, nor, except as provided in subsection (b), shall any person lend or give a firearm to another or otherwise deliver a firearm contrary to the provisions of this subchapter.
(b) Exception.—
(1) Subsection (a) shall not apply if any of the following apply:
(i) The person who receives the firearm is licensed to carry a firearm under section 6109 (relating to licenses).
(ii) The person who receives the firearm is exempt from licensing.IANAL

Re: Can another carry my registered gun
Also, he's your son, so as long as you are both not prohibited you can transfer actual ownership of the pistol back and forth without a background check. And, like they said above, you can loan to a person with an LTCF. You are very, very well within the law

Re: Can another carry my registered gun
Thank you everyone!
Actually I am not a kid if I have a 24 year old son--- but thanks! I was just asking for a little assistance guys-- don't beat the new girl on the block up.... Thanks again for all of your suggestions! Always best to ask than be a fool and assume!
I promise I will not call it a CCW! LTCF it is-- I had a moment!
Yes-- Upper Bucks County. Milford Township to be exact-- I guess I was just being cautious-- shy?
I had found the same quote while searching through the links, but had wanted to just double check. I believe it would fall into the exception since he does have his LTCF. Check out 18 Pa CSA 6115:

Re: Can another carry my registered gun
I do k now that rifles, shotguns and pistols can be transfered or handed down through the family. I have a few of my fathers guns that he had passed down. We both (myself and my son) do have current LTCF's. We actually got them a few months apart.
Thank you for you assistance!
