What do you expect...we are surrounded by anti gun states...OH, NJ, MD, NY, which sucks, but at least there are 17 states that do honor PA's license.

Our permit is not verifiable
Another issue impacts th acceptance of the PA permit by a few other states is the fact that there is no way for LEO in other states to easily verify the validaty of a PA permit. I know that this is the primary reason given why VA and PA do not have a reciprocity agreement. I hae my FL non-res permit on the way for just that reason. Supposdly, legislation has been passed to fund the building and maintenance of a database and some sort of instant check system capability. As you can probably appreciate there have been a lot of privacy concerns about such a DB existing.
FL and UT non-resident pemits are great as far as providing we PA residents coverage in most states. There still are several states in which you wouldn't be covered but not too many. SC does frustrate me though. As it stands now, there is simply no way that I am aware of that a PA resident can carry in SC unless you are a LEO.
Good luck and be safe.

Re: Map of the USA and the CCW status
Guns are like shoes...a woman should have one in every caliber.
I'm armed and menopausal...Excuse me, did you have something to say?

Re: Map of the USA and the CCW status
-Edited by danp, the AG's map leaves out some states (Arizona and Vermont) and I want to have everything in here point to our official reciprocity page pointed to in the original post.

Re: Map of the USA and the CCW status
I know this is a bad subject, but I have to ask. Since a lot of the states won't honor our pistol permits, due to us not requiring training. Wouldn't it behoove us to train so we could carry in more states? What do you think about adding a section or a different color permit when you attend training, and then that permit would allow us to carry in more states. It would be your option to furthrer your carry options.

Re: Map of the USA and the CCW status
I'm locking this thread. The PAFOA now maintains its own map and listing of states our permit is good in on our main website under the Law section.
I've edited the original post to point there.Dan P, Founder & President, Pennsylvania Firearm Owners Association
