Gun Access
Can someone point me in the right direction?
I have a gun that, bearing a break in or emergency, need quick access to.
With young kids in the house, I do not want to leave the gun loaded.
Since nothing is more useless than an unloaded gun, what can you recommend? It would have to be something that would give me quick access in the home in case it was needed.
Thanks in advance
George

Carry it on you at all times?

I agree with streaker69, Carry it at all times. If bad guys come to my house my assessment /reaction will be immediate. How are you going to go get your locked up firearm if you are being held against your will? What if your in the basement when your door is breached and your gun is up in your bedroom locked up? Criminals are opportunists, I refuse to give them a free pass because of a lack of commitment on my part.

Re: Gun Access
This is what I would suggest. You said you have kids. I honestly think that the safest place for it while your conscious is on your hip. When your sleeping, get the gunvault and put it within arms reach while in the bed.
No safe is absolutely safe, it's possible for a kid to get into it. But its even harder for them to slip the gun out of the holster on your hip and shoot themselves without you realizing what's going on. Plus that way there is a gun with you no matter where you are when a BG breaks into your home.Practicing free speech outside of the designated free speech zones.

If you don't want to carry and the gun vault is more than you want to spend, how about this : http://www.amazon.com/Secure-It-Hand...=cm_cr_pr_pb_t
I just got one for my truck
