Prosecutor gets 2 years on gun charges
I was out in Iowa last week and read this story in one of the local papers. The former prosecutor, a Mr. Jeffrey Tekippe plea bargained for the 2 years for posessing two pistols that he knew were stolen. It seems the guns were evidence in criminal cases in Pottawattamie County. Go figure. Didn't this guy have enough cash to buy his own guns?

DES MOINES (AP) - A former assistant Pottawattamie County attorney has been sentenced to two years in prison on a federal gun charge.
Jeffrey TeKippe was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court in Des Moines.
The U.S. attorney's office says TeKippe had previously entered into a plea agreement in which both sides agreed to the sentence.
TeKippe pleaded guilty to possession of stolen firearms. Court records show that in 2007 TeKippe possessed two pistols that he knew were stolen. Records show that the guns were evidence in criminal cases being prosecuted by the Pottawattamie County attorney's office.
TeKippe admitted that he knew the guns were stolen and that they
had been transported in interstate commerce.

He needed the guns to protect the cocaine maybe?
"The rifle is the weapon of democracy. If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military. The hired servants of our rulers. Only the government-and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws." (Edward Abbey, "The Right to Arms," Abbey's Road [New York, 1979])
I have my rifle. Do you?

Man, I'm glad I didn't wake up as him, this morning. Makes all my niggling little problems seem insiginificant.
