New 7.62x39
Woo hoo !! Finally picked up a 7.62 at the Philly Armory Gun Show this weekend. The .22 was never enough, so today I feel much better about things.
It's a Saiga Model 03 Carbine, and while it's not the AK-style (pistol grip) that I wanted, it has been modified to take AK mags, so the 30-round capability is there (which was key for me), and so far it's not uncomfortable at all to shoot.
Happy happy joy joy . . .He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.

Re: New 7.62x39
Very nice! After looking at some water bottles I shot with .223 yesterday, I feel the need to get away from .223 and 5.45. I shot a Propel water bottle at 100yds and my son laughed at me because it didn't move. After the 4th shot, it fell to the ground. We walked down to set it back up and there were 3 holes in it. I only missed it once. Hopefully it was just the cheap Brown Bear ammo but I've never seen anything remotely close to shooting 7.62x39.

Re: New 7.62x39
I hate to be the one to rain on the parade here, but with those 30rd mags modified to fit the gun, you are in violation of 922r section compiance.
With the stock mag you're ok since that is the way that the gun came into the country, but the alphabet gang has determined that with a 30rd mag the saigas are non sporting and can't be imported that way. Therefore putting it together over here without replacing enough parts to make it a "US" gun, violates the 922r rule.
Its really more of a pain in the ass than what it has to be, but in this case not knowing the law doesn't get you outta it.The resident Saiga snob

Re: New 7.62x39
Yup still an issue with the 12 gauge, its a little different since its a shotgun. I know that a stock 12 is legal with the AGP 10 round mags, but not the russian 8 (due to the country of origin of the mags) I don't know with the wraithmaker if that changes or not though.
Ya can always ask the guys over on the saiga-12 forum, since I'm the village idoit over there i just know enough to get myself into trouble

Re: New 7.62x39
You can easily become 922r compliant by making sure you have the minimum number of US made parts on your gun. First, do a search for Saiga 922r and see how many parts are recognized on the rifle. You must have 10 or less foreign made parts, so if your rifle has 14 recognized parts, you need to replace 4 parts with US parts to make it compliant. the mag counts as 3 parts so you are well on the way!
