Like we have nothing better to do with $800,000
Gee nothing better to do these days with $800,000 so we decide to start monitoring online gaming to see who doesn't 'play nice' and see if that can relate to criminal activity?
This has to go into that old John Stossel "Give me a break" category

And the "Thought Police" take another step into our lives.

The thought police have been a part of our lives since they passed the first "hate crimes law" into being. Personally I think that if you are willing to kill someone you really do hate them and you do not need an extra charge against you, you've actually proven that you hated them. Silly me though I use logic when thinking things through.

You almost just killed me. I almost choked on my Nature's Valley granola bar. I needed a laugh after the debate last night. It's a choice between worse and worser.
I wonder if any of the video games they are monitoring are the ones that have Obama advertisements. I wonder what would happen if someone started to destroy one of the bilboards online saying what a piece of shite he is.

I can speak for my gaming circle - No, being assholes online doesn't mean they're criminals. Just means they're assholes.

Re: Like we have nothing better to do with $800,000
The problem is that it has come to be asshole=criminal. Look at hate crime legislation. Hate speech is illegal. I have heard some pretty hateful Black Liberation speech coming from "legitimate" congregations to the nutjobs who stand at 15th and Market (near the clothes-pin statue), but that's not hate speech or a hate crime because they aren't white. If you are white though you had better not come even close to using any speech that can be deemed hateful.
Sure hateful speech makes makes you an asshole, but that doesn't make you a criminal.

Re: Like we have nothing better to do with $800,000
Dear GOD this is retarded... Most WoW players are whiney little kids who get pissed because they are addicted to the game and when things don't go their way they get pissed. (Cough) None of this is from personal experience. (Cough)
Now I've met people who have been complete dicks inside online game but are some of the nicest people outside of the game. Online gaming allows you to escape and be someone else who isn't you. And you can play them however you want. You can be a egotistical manaic in a game and be completely different outside. Sure there are those people who are the same in game and out of game but this is such a stretch that it makes me wonder what is really going on.
What a complete waist of tax dollars...
OH yea BTW one more point on this.
IF they are monitoring the people who are playing the game a lot they will know that the people they are monitoring aren't going to do anything cause they are too addicted and caught up in the game to actually go outside and see the sun... So what was the point of this again?Last edited by Kenshin; October 16th, 2008 at 01:58 PM.
