more than 1 AR here.
Red dot on pistol/SBR 300blk & 5.56 home defense guns.
1-4 LPVO on 16" for all purpose
4-16 on one for Varmint
If I only had 1 I would probably stick with a 1-X LPVO it's kind of a Jack of all trades

Re: Your AR optics, irons, RD, Holo, Scope
.223 pure target rifle. Wears a Burris Fullfield II 6.5-20X50 target knob scope (fine plex reticle) in a Rock River high rise mount.
9mm steel and self defense rifle. Wears an EOTech 512 and Magpul MBUS.
.223 tacticool rifle. Really a target shooter, but I can pretend. Wears a Leupold VX-R Patrol scope in Leupold Mark II IMS mount.
For a close range self defense rifle like the 9, it is hard to beat the EOTECH. Fast, and the true holographic sight doesn*t distort with astigmatism like most simple red dots.
The pure target rifle wears a pure target scope. Solid clear glass, target reticle, repeatable clicks, good magnification and it gathers a lot of light. From my point of view, it would be a terrible choice for use inside 100 yards.
The Colt tacticool rifle wears a compromise. 1.25-4x has utility from across the room to 3-400 yards. The Fire dot special purpose reticle has shake awake, ranging features and a 30 MOA *close enough* circle. The fire dot and special purpose reticle lets a guy pretend, but it still has a classic crosshair at the core for punching paper which is what it legitimately does.Last edited by imashooter2; August 15th, 2022 at 12:23 AM.

Re: Your AR optics, irons, RD, Holo, Scope
I mostly have red dots of various brands - Primary Arms "micro" 20mm and SLx 30mm, SIG Romeo 5 is a great one for a reasonable price.
I did try out a 1-4x20 LPVO and I agree with ExFlyinguy above about it being a good jack of all trades - like a red dot... that can be magnified.
I wasn't about to spend hundreds on one before I knew if I would like that style of optic, so I bought a cheapo first. I haven't upgraded to a better brand yet, but I'd like to.
Here's a brief writeup on LPVO optics
I got mine on Amazon for $58 about 4 years ago. Price went up some. I think it's well worth the money as an entry level optic.
Centerpoint Optics 1-4x20 MSR Rifle Scope with Offset Picatinny Mount
Illuminated, OR you can use it "turned off" because it has a black circle/dot etched reticle.
Primary Arms SLx 30mm red dot

Check out prizm optics(it's a style not a brand)
Fixed power, very easy to see. Etched reticle, also illuminated. Available in 1x, 3x, and 5x. And no Starburst effect from astigmatism.

I put an ACOG on mine but my overall knowledge of this field is slim.

My optics are mated to a gun for that guns purpose.
Leupold 5.5x24 on the long distance 6.5 Grendel, the same 1x4 as EM on a mid distance gun, an a CMore systems rail sight on the SBR for CQB.www.Steelvalleycasting.com is your new home for coated bullets and custom ammo.

Re: Your AR optics, irons, RD, Holo, Scope
From top to bottom.
Sig Romeo 5 and a Vortex 3x flip to side magnifier. Decent combo, though the eye relief is fairly short on the magnifier, but never had a problem with the Romeo.
Standard AR iron sights, pretty new to me as I just got it a week ago or so. I got them sighted in and so far like them well enough. Not super duper accurate with them, but was hitting 6" steel at 150 yards fairly consistently once I got used to it.
On the AK, since its in the pic, is a Primary Arms 3x prism with their ACSS reticle system. Like it a lot actually, thinking of swapping it to the SBR.
Last is a Brownells 1-6x LPVO. Fairly inexpensive, think I got it for under $300 with the mount during a PSA deal. I like it well enough. Holds zero well and its clear. No reason yet to swap it out.
