Blanket SKS import ban nonsense
Miller's in PA tells me that a distributor told him there's a blanket SKS import ban, with a suggestion of an executive order as its cause.
I certainly don't see anything on here to corroborate at, and I asked the man I spoke with specifically about what countries of origin were banned from importation. He responded that all were.
They blackball a country sometimes, but there's nothing on the books to halt the importation of the SKS variants. Does anyone know about this (vicious rumor)?
Maybe what was meant by all of this was that no one in the originating countries we will currently import from has offered any up for export.

Re: Blanket SKS import ban nonsense
Nothing on our end that I'm aware of. A quick check of executive orders doesn't reveal anything.
I assume you're referring to G W Bush:

As Clinton certainly -did- affect the importation of foreign arms into the US.

Archie Bunker: "would it make you feel better, little girl, if they was pushed outta windows?"

Re: Blanket SKS import ban nonsense
When did the SKS become the badass of rifles? It seems that since Philly, this thing has overtaken the AK in the notoriety department.

Re: Blanket SKS import ban nonsense
Only because the media there misreports AKs as SKSes...
SKS is a nice rifle, and not particularly expensive for law-abiding owners or criminals to acquire. If SKS is really achieving such a notoriety, it would only prove that people apparently don't need big mags to be bad or good.

Re: Blanket SKS import ban nonsense
True, but those 10 round stripper clips are ultra-concealable, and black, and cheap, and therefore evil.

The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

Re: Blanket SKS import ban nonsense
On a certain website I won't name, there are a few categories of "New Beautiful Shipment" of SKS rifles. They are Yugos in the $169(fair) to $219(excellent) range. There have been some Romanian ones out there for a while as well. They are more expensive.
Gun shop trying to excite someone into buying one or justifying the big price jump this year? I don't know."The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of 'liberalism,' they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened."

Re: Blanket SKS import ban nonsense
Yeah I think it has to do with them no longer coming from Yugoslavia, but I'm not sure if we banned import or if they aren't sending them or what.

Does that mean mine are worth more now?
I was reading the Uberfaq on these carbines this morning to verify mine were 922 compliant.

Re: Blanket SKS import ban nonsense
I hear about this type thing all the time. The wild speculation about import bans and executive orders. I chalk it all up to day economcs class. Demand is up and at this time is higher than supply. In a few months everyone and their brother will be pushing SKS's out the door liks candy at the movies.
