Just Thinking, Bushy M17
Can A Bushmaster M17 be converted to fire left hand side ejection ?
I like the FN FS2000, which is amidextrous, but $2800?

The only left hand ejecting AR is the Stag, unless someone makes one now. There is no way of converting the Bushmaster unless you replace the upper with a Stag lefty.

Re: Just Thinking, Bushy M17
Xringshoter, i were talking about the Bushy M17 not the regular AR series, The Bushy M17 is a Bullpup rifle.
On other Bullpups such as the FAMAS you can switch the Port ejection to suit the shooter.
As A LEFTY the right side ejection Port on a AR doesnt bother me at all, But a Bullpup would place ejection port right on my ear.

Re: Just Thinking, Bushy M17
$2800?? Where the hell do people find such insane prices on these????
I got my FS2000 Standard for $2175, could have got the tactical (without factory optics setup) for $2000.
With that said, I found the M17 to be heavy, but more importantly, UNBALANCES, it's uncomfortable, they operating system just feels clunky and very UNsmooth, the trigger sucks (even for a bullpup), and finally, to actually answer your question, NO, it can not be converted to left side ejection, and it is not ambidextrous. However, I'm sure you could pay a gunsmith a good amount of money to convert it to left side, which would probably mean that you are spending the same price as the FS200. I suppose it's just another cut and a lefty bolt carrier/charging handle away.
After searching around, it appears as though this guy has the most experience working with the M17's. You could always shoot him an email.

That is from fondling them. From reading about them, they are all of the above, they get hot extremely quick, they aren't very accurate, and they jam often.
Sure, you can get a possibly useless M17 bullpup for under $1000. OR, you can get a gun that is in use by many armed forces around the world for just over $2000. I put my money on the "proven" gun.

Re: Just Thinking, Bushy M17
Istock ,
sounds like you like your FS a lot, its a nice gun , i handled one at the gun shop about 2 weeks ago , it pointed nicely but i did like the bulky/fat feel, maybe i could get used to it.
Would you say its a rugged weapon? Are the sights electronic?
Thanks, nyman

Re: Just Thinking, Bushy M17
It's definitely a rugged weapon, and no, the factory sight is not electronic, though it still has the rail, and if you don't want a the Standard, you could always go with the Tactical and put your own sight on it.
