Default sorry, Taurus .44 mag raging Bull?

Sorry guys if this were discussed before, iam new this is my first post,

Does anybody hav e any experience with the Taurus Raging Bull .44? The other Gun sites that i visit people tend to put them down and call them names like "POS" etc. But i were in a Gunshop last saturday and i handled one and it seemed like a nice re volv er to me, nice trigger, nice fit and pointed well for me.

The price were good too, $ 419 for the Blued and $592 for the Stainless , it would a fun Gun at the range or i i would carry it when i go hog hunting.

What do you think of this Gun any practical experience?

    Thanks, nyman

You'll get mixed reviews of the Taurus product line. Most of the bad are due to the small frame revolvers and a couple of the semi-auto's. I cant recall a bad review of the Raging Bull series. The RB series seems to be well built to me as well. Beefy, dual lockup.

I'd like to get one day, maybe a 2-3" 44, 454 or bigger.

I know one person with one and he has never had any complaints. He also typically shots magnum (or better) loads and carries it deer hunting.

A lot of the bad press about Taurus came from years ago and people just can't seem to let go. Taurus had some quality problems for a while but they have gotten by that phase. I have owned 4 different Taurus's over the years and all served me well. Right now I own a PT1911 and it shoots like a house afire. I wouldn't be afraid to buy the Raging Bull.

I shoot a Taurus Tracker Titanium in .357 and have no complaints. Three of the guys I shoot with have PT1911's and those guns are awesome. I am trying to come up with an excuse to buy another 1911 (already have 2).

The grip they use on the Tracker seemed to help a good bit with felt recoil.

The Taurus triggers have always felt rough to me...I would dry fire it before you buy it to make sure you're comfortable with it. To me, part of the appeal of the revolver is having a really nice, smooth, double action trigger pull, I've never particularly enjoyed shooting Taurus revolvers for this reason.

How much can the same dealer get you a S&W 629 or a Ruger Blackhawk, for?

I have a 6" Stainless Raging Bull in .44 mag and I love it! It has a smooth pull and locks up tighter than my Colt Anaconda! I wouldn't hesitate to add another RB to my collection (.454 or .500 would be next!) The .44 is a good choice though, it's cheaper to shoot than the .454 or .500!

    BTW...Welcome to the PAFOA!!

Rocket, how do you keep your gas ports so clean? On my tracker, I just can't get the fouling out of that trough. Maybe it's the titanium.

I have the Stainless model 627 and I just dip a q-tip in Shooters Choice lead remover let it sit on there a few minutes and then have at it with a brass brush and a pick.

It must be the titanium that scorches or something on mine.

This thread reminds me. I need to get that pistol out for the next group shoot. Shooting .38's is lots of fun with it.

I just use good 'ole Hoppes #9 and a bunch of q-tips. I do have a couple problem spots that don't want to rub off easy. For them, I use a precision flat head screwdriver as a pick with a red shop rag wrapped around it.
