Cyprus' (STRICT) Firearms Laws
Cyprus has strict gun control. Private citizens are completely forbidden from owning handguns and rifles in any calber, even .22 rimfire. A gun license is required to buy ammunition, and ammunition sales are recorded.

Re: Cyprus' (STRICT) Firearms Laws
And people were surprised that Cyprus' government was planning to agree to a program that would confiscate 10% of its citizen's bank accounts? Reason #1 why we have the 2A, and reason #1 why we should never back up even an inch. You think Cypriots gave up their rights willingly or all at once?
An oppressive government gathers its power from those who hand theirs over to it.

Re: Cyprus' (STRICT) Firearms Laws
Not that I disagree with you at all, but our government has been routinely taking much more than 10% of citizens' money for some time now. Actually, 10% is chump change compared to what they actually suck from our veins.
I think we should be more pissed than we are. I can't imagine that even the Stamp Act took as much money as our now-mainstream income taxes do now. They even have minds but do not think. -Dov Fischer

Re: Cyprus' (STRICT) Firearms Laws
The recent tax increase went off without a hitch. No one lifted a finger to protest. Not even the occupy assholes. I believe the new season of American Idol started that week. Coincidence?
It's different when it's a tax and it's money that is taken from you without you ever seeing it (payroll deductions). When the government freezes EVERYONE's bank account and then takes it, that should be a thing that ends with politicians hanging from trees. The recent tax increase should have been such a thing, but apparently no one gives a shit. No one will fight for something other than cable TV.

Re: Cyprus' (STRICT) Firearms Laws
Don't kid yourself. What would you do with having all the firearms in case government will steal your money from the bank? Go rob that bank at gunpoint? I very much doubt it.
