Default SHTF - Vests or bags?

For carrying all the gear that you may need IE, ammo, knifes, flashlights, or whatever else you may need (not bob or ghb stuff) what do people use. For vests, what kind do people use, like the cheap stuff people use for airsoft or are there military grade stuff out there available for civilian purchase? Right now I have a $40 UTG vest and was looking for other options. Maybe like maxpedition gunslinger gear or something. Just curious on what to waste money on next.

    I suggest a girlfriend.

Not only can they help to carry all your stuff, but they can cook and clean during the zombie apocalypse as well. Plus, they help keep you warm at night. Some of 'em are even a good second trigger finger.

    Yes, definitely....girlfriend, FTW.

What if the OP is gay? That's a rather discriminatory statement don't ya think?

    So?

If a fella likes other fellas and wants to play zombie apocalypse with a member of the same sex, that's his business- it's certainly not mine!

My opinion is this. Your SHTF bag should be something that doesnt look para-military. In a SHFT situation its best to go unnoticed. A good quality backpack that is large enough for your purpose is the best. If you start running around in military gear you are just a target for someone else or group. You show that you have stuff that they may want ( guns, ammo , stuff like that )
I have a good size packpack that is plain jane but good quality that stores my stuff just fine. A duffle bag works good also for throwing in your vehicle If you know your not going to have to hump it.

I agree, in most SHTF scenarios you are going to want to remain low key thus a plain backpack or bag is the way to go. Tacticool can still work, just not crazy over the top.

That said I do carry a Maxpedition gearslinger everyday to and from work everyday.
