Is there anything illegal about this rifle?

A friend of mine posted a picture of this rifle on Facebook. Someone chimed in saying that the buttstock makes it illegal as a short barrel rifle. I don't know the rules but it sounds wrong to me. Can anyone tell me if they are right or wrong and why?

It's not a stock - it's a F#@%ING ARM BRACE.

THAT IS NOT A RIFLE. It is a PISTOL.

Here are three of mine.
The bottom one is a pistol. It has a PISTOL buffer tube - a STOCK will NOT fit on it - different diameter tube - for a REASON.
That is a Shockwave "Blade" arm brace - it is NOT a stock.

It's not illegal, because that's not a buttstock, and that gun is a handgun and not a rifle. It's a stabilizing brace. Do not put a real stock on it unless you jump through the right hoops.

That looks like a KAK Shockwave and not a shoulder stock, so that remains a pistol in the ATF's eyes. I will add though that if you have those parts and a shoulder stock available that has no legal host (16" barrel) on which to reside, that could be construed as constructive intent.
