Walmart refused to sell ammo after 9pm?

So I went to walmart yesterday with my friend who needed to buy some face crap.
She was browsing the makeup and I decided I needed ammo as they finally had some 22 in stock.

I go back to the ammo counter and she meets me there, I see an employee walking by and I ask her to please notify the person with the keys I want to buy ammo. (Currently 10:45pm)
She stares at me for a minute and says, sorry but its state law we cannot sell ammo after 9pm.
I tell her that absolutely wrong and I have bought ammo around 2am and 4am before just a few weeks prior.
She gave me a look like I had two heads and thats when a manager looking type with extra tags having from his ID badge walked over to fix a display,
I asked him the same question with employee #1 standing there and she did not say a word he looked straight at me and told me, sorry its state law we are not allowed to sell you ammo after 10 pm.

I told him there is no state law stating such then he admitted, well there may not be a state law bit its walmart's policy and our store policy,
so we cannot sell you the ammo sorry.

This was Tullytown walmart,
anyone else have a similar issue? Is this complete BS or is this walmarts policy?
I will be calling their corporate and asking them to see what they say.

Never heard of it. I have a friend who manages the sporting goods department at a local Wall Mart. I am going to ask him about it. Thanks for the heads - up.

If it's the one in Levittown, they've been doing that for years, they would only sell between 8am and 10pm. Was great for the guys who were hoarding the stuff in the panic. They would line up at 8 and basically pick the shelves clean.

Really, I used to buy ammo at all times of day and night there, in Tullytown.

There's no law that says you can't buy ammo after a certain hour. I've bought ammo in two of the three Wal-Marts near me in the wee hours of the morning already. The one in mountorsville I've never tried.

The Easton and Lehighton stores are good to go the East Stroudsburg store doesn't sell past 8 or 9pm they have a big ole sign hanging up.

We all know that people buying ammo after 9pm are up to no good anyway.
