Default C&R FFL, Still Worth It?

Last night I filled out my paperwork for the C&R FFL. I'm still debating whether it's worth sending in or not.

I remember a number of years ago when there was more surplus it seemed like more people had them and many vendors offered discounts(I think Midway for instance got rid of the C&R discount). That doesn't seem as prevalent anymore. Do people still think it's worth having one? Do many gun show vendors take a C&R for old surplus rifles instead of having to fill out all the paperwork for one? One advantage I see is vendors like AIM and Wideners that do get surplus in I can use the C&R and have those rifles sent to me instead of organizing a transfer with my FFL.

Yep, for what it cost's it's a good deal.

    Just keep the proper records.

Along those lines, why does it seem like so many dealers refuse sales to C&R holders? Doesn't make much sense to me. I never thought about a C&R because most of the stuff i like is modern, but many times, gun shows, gunbroker auctions, and even some brick and mortar dealers say "NO C&R" like its some sort of bad thing? I checked out the rules and it seems clear enough. If these dealers can navigate their way though the hassles of NFA, they certainly should be able to determine what does and doesn't qualify as a C&R.

I would say yes if you are looking to purchase/collect a lot of firearms. I was considering it myself, but I ended up not making too many purchases lately.
