UMC Ammo?
Anyone shoot it? I tried a search on here - no hits.
Dunhams had 9mm on sale @ 250rds / $39.99. Didn't know if that was a good deal or even if the ammo is any good. I guess it's gotta be better than Wolf."Ya only need legs to kick ass baby boy" - Bartender in Feast III

Re: UMC Ammo?
I have run some .45 in my kimber with no problems. At $8 per 50 rounds it is the same price of S&B. I see no problem with it for range ammo.

Re: UMC Ammo?
GR - I've had great luck with it, be it .40S&W, 9mm or .45ACP. Dick's Sporting Goods has it on sale every once in awhile, and when I can snag it for about 5.70 a box for 9mm (50 rounds), I won't sneeze at it.
It's accurate, about as clean as any commerical ammo (a heckva lot cleaner than Wolf, but that doesn't take much!), and all my pistols eat it without a belch.
Jump on it - it's much better than Wolf, and the cases are reloadable.

Re: UMC Ammo?
UMC is dirty overpriced shit and fouls my P7s gas systems after one box. In 9mm, it's also a short, stubby, round-nose slug compared to other ammo (below).
The 100 rnd WWB value pack at WalMart is the same unit price as the UMC on sale at Dunhams. It's way cleaner and noticably hotter.
Other good ammo in the same price bracket is CCI Blazer ($6.99/50 last time I was at Grice) and Fiocchi ($149/1000 at dansammo).
I won't even come near Wolf pistol ammo. However, the Wolf Gold in my K31 rifle is excellent.Last edited by RandomTask; July 15th, 2007 at 02:15 PM.

Re: UMC Ammo?
GRoPA,
I've been running UMC in my G19 for years now. Not as much lately since the WWB at W-Mart is priced lower.
I used to get it when Dick's had it on sale, but the sale prices aren't as good as they used to be.
Clean, dirty... what's the difference?
With "clean" ammo, I (a) shoot gun (b) clean gun.
With "dirty" ammo, I (a) shoot gun (b) clean gun.
Non-issue. Gun gets cleaned either way.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Have used alot of it, never a problem or an issue. Calibers used were 9mm, .40 and .45.

Re: UMC Ammo?
Used it in .357mag, wasnt too impressed with it, but that was some time ago, and it may have been more shooter than ammo.

Re: UMC Ammo?
Generally you are correct that 'dirty ammo' is not a huge deal. But if you are firing a gas operated pistol like a HK P7 or a Desert Eagle then you have to worry about other facets. Excess residue can gun up the works pretty quick, and the crap left over by some of those cheaper ammos (Wolf in my case), I can only imagine what that would do to a gas system.
