45 colt and the 230 gold dot. uses?

I came across a part box of 230 grain gold dots. loaded them to around 900fps. I shot a ground hog with this load and it was impressive compared to the cast loads I was using. any clues as to what else this load would work for? I'm pretty sure it would take a white tail. Any other critters?

Depending on the range would work on just about any "critter" in North America.

230gr GoldDots at 900fps will make pretty decent badguy stoppers.

a bad guy stopper it would be. but, I'm not so sure about the carry factor of a 7.5" SAA.It's mainly planned for deer and I'm not sure how to check the expansion without ballistic geliten.?

I load the 230 XTP a bit warmer in my 45 Colt, but I only use it in my TC Contender Carbine. It was loaded mainly for deer, but would work well for black bear too.
As for the expansion, I have used ballistic gelatin and have one conclusion, from a handgun, expansion is a bonus. Start big, and if it gets bigger, BooYaa!
