NASA to Bomb the Moon on 10/09/09
NASA to Bomb the Moon - On October 9th, 2009
NASA will hit the moon with a 2-ton kinetic weapon and blast a 5 mile wide crater.
The explosion will reach 6 miles above the lunar surface and should be visible from earth.
On Friday, October 9, 2009, NASA is bombing the Moon on 'the false pretense' of searching for water. They have known about traces of water on the Moon since 1971.
India beat NASA to the punch, by being 'first' in disclosing the discovery of water on the Moon!
NASA has egg on their face 'again by lying to the public of what they've known all along.'
There is no reason to detonate the 'alleged kinetic bomb' on the surface of the moon seeking traces of water anymore!
INDIA discovered this already.
It is the obligation of the White House to stop this reckless violation of The International Space Treaties. We are asking you to do this for planet Earth and The Moon.
It is known the United States does NOT adhere to The International Space Treaties, but this is no excuse for the flagrant bombing of anything in space and especially the Moon.

Re: NASA to Bomb the Moon on 10/09/09
Lets hope they only damage the surface and they don't do serious damage which could affect a lot of shit on Earth.
then again it could get rid of New Jersey....The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

Re: NASA to Bomb the Moon on 10/09/09
Hmm... The Principle Investigators at JPL didn't describe this as "bombing" the moon. They were quite proud of Deep Impact; but yet again, they boasted of a "collider", not a "bomb". The work that NASA does is so critical to the advancement of science and mankind.
One of the coolest things they're building is the new Mars rover. So Spirit and Opportunity are like the size of a go-kart. They were inserted to the planet's surface via the cool (yet crazy) airbag system. The new Mars rover is about the size of a Mini Cooper and weighs 2000lbs. Get this... it's being delivered by a "sky crane" to the surface.
Watch this, it's worth the long HD download... http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msl/multimedia/videos/movies/MSL_Anim_NEW_1280_HD.mov
It's powered by an RTP, so we should be able to wander around Mars for quite awhile. (I know eco-people hate putting radioactive materials into space, I mean, it's not like there's any there now.... wait, what?)
Ohh yeah, I was actually at NASA-JPL last week for work. It was the semi-annual NASA QLF. If you're ever in Pasadena, other than the obvious advice to run out of California as fast as possible, go to this little Mexican place right on East Colorado Blvd. called La Fiesta. It's so awesome compared to the commercialized stuff on that strip like Ruth's Chris and Cheesecake/etc. The Hilton on Los Robles was nice...F*S=k

Wiped out the dinosaurs right..
WTF isn't the rest of the world screaming out about this bullshit?! Are all the sheeple genuinely excited about this, thinking it's progress?

Re: NASA to Bomb the Moon on 10/09/09
The Moon Treaty (Agreement Governing The Activities Of States On The Moon And Other Celestial Bodies (1979)) addresses and bans the specific activity bombing of the moon carried out unilaterally by the U.S. The Moon Treaty prohibits disruption of the environment of the Moon. The LCROSS bombing constitutes a disruption of the delicate balance of the lunar ecology.

This moon treaty was never ratified by any major spacefaring nation.
It is completely meaningless.

Re: NASA to Bomb the Moon on 10/09/09
I can garuntee you that those who are working to make this happen are certainly not "sheeple". The "sheeple" would be happy staying in their barn on this one. Welcome to existence, everyone's here.
Yeah, but... what if the "collider" or "impactor" was moving at a multiple of speed equal to the square of the moon's mass times the inverse of the fraction of mass that the "impactor" represented in relationship to the moon (in agreeable units, and assuming an inelastic impact with all energy transfered without loss - impossible, i know.) BUT... THEN, the moon might be able to fall out of the sky, or change course, or... or...F*S=k
