Concealed Carry in State Parks now legal??
The House overwhelmingly passed two NRA-supported amendments to HB1845, which further protect the rights of Pennsylvania’s gun-owners. One amendment, which passed 197 to 5, sponsored by Representative Edward Staback (D-115), would eliminate the prohibition of concealed carry permit holders right to carry in State Parks. Another amendment, which passed unanimously, introduced by Representative Russell Fairchild (R-85), would prohibit any government agency from confiscating or regulating the lawful sale, possession, transfer, transport and carry of firearms during a state of emergency, such as occurred in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
Got this in the mail. Sounds like Papatriot has to modify the "where you can carry sticky". State parks are now legal.
Also a good thing about confiscating weapons during an emergency too.The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control....

No.
The amendment passed. The bill it is attached to was supposed to be voted on yesterday, but I'm not sure if it was, or if it passed.
*Edited to add:
Based on the info on the state's website, HB1845 has not yet been voted on.
Until the bill becomes law, the attached amendments mean nothing. Please don't go strolling in to a State Park citing A06547 to make you legal to carry. You will be wrong.Last edited by gnbrotz; April 3rd, 2008 at 07:23 PM. Reason: more info

Purely speculating, but based on the margins of passage for the pro-gun amendments, and defeat for the mandatory reporting of stolen firearms, it would seem to me that the bill stands a decent chance of passing. As mentioned above, I thought the bill itself was supposed to be voted on yesterday, but when I checked the list of roll call votes for Wednesday, it wasn't on the list.
I'll try to remember to keep checking here, where votes for any date can be found, as well as keeping an eye out for further legislative alerts and blog postings.Get your "Guns Save Lives" stickers today! PM for more info.

and then it also has to be passed by the state senate and signed by the governor. if he vetoes is, then the veto has to be overridden.
i agree with gnbrotz, though...given the voting margins on these amendments, i would say there is a good chance it will pass...and pass the senate and be signed into law. especially since it does contains some admendments that the antis will actually be happy about that don't hurt us--like making it illegal to falsley report a firearm as stolen.
i think it won't be too long until it is legal to carry in state parks. but, you never know...
