    Default Firing pin??

My father in law gave me his JC Higgins Sears Roebuck 22 rifle. He hasn’t shot it for years. Said he bought it new in 1950. It is bolt action with a shot tube. The rounds we’re getting bent when they were being injected into the barrel but I squeezed the clips and stopped that but now it takes about 2 trigger pulls per round. I inject one pull the trigger open the breech part way reclose it and then try again. Usually it goes off. But it doesn’t seem to indent the brass deep enough to set it off. I put oil in the firing pin hole used a push pin to loosen up old carbon but still not a for sure shot.

Model number may go a long way on getting info.
At the very least I'd pull the bolt out of the rifle and give it a good dose of, pick your choice, gun cleaning spray.

Edit: may get more response up in the gunsmithing section.
It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.

If you do decide to DIY, the site https://www.gunpartscorp.com/ has many OEM parts for various older guns.

A gun like that which hasn*t been used in a long time could simply have old oil and crud gumming up the works. Remove the bolt assembly. Soak it in a pan of lighter fluid for a couple days. Shake or blow it out. Reassemble and test.

    ^^^THIS.

Find the model number on the barrel (Sears typically used three digits followed by a dot, then four or five more digits. With that number, we can cross-index your rifle with the OE manufacturer's model and find the proper disassembly instructions for a thorough cleaning. You may also need a new mainspring.

Like others have said, clean/soak first. Even gasoline will do wonders for removing old oil, dirt, cosmoline, etc. in a pinch...metal parts only, obviously. If that doesnt fix, more likely to be the spring(s) than the actual pin. Used to have an old and well loved Marlin that was like that.
