Shotgun News article on FN SCAR

So I skimmed over the SN article on the SCAR 16. I didn't realize it had a polymer lower.

I don't mean this to be dismissive because I know a lot of folks are excited about the SCAR (i.e., I'm not trying to be a smartass), but isn't it just an AR180B equivalent with better ergonomics and flip up sights?

What am I missing?

(I know it's FN and not Armalite...but quantitatively, isn't it practically the same thing?).

If I'm off base, somebody square me away.

Most new military rifles are based on the AR-180 at least in part. The HK comes to mind.

Wouldn't it be funny if we spent the NEXT 50 years with a Stoner inspired design?

Uh huh. I had to double check to make sure I wasn't looking at an airsoft copy. I think even the stock hinge is all plastic, er polymer, which didn't seem too sturdy.

I'm not sure it really has better ergonomics even. You can change out the barrel by removing 4 (I think) bolts, pulling the barrel, and replacing the bolts. But yeah, pretty much like an AR-18/AR180.
