Glock empty casings
B"H
Hello guys, hope all is well. I was looking in the black plastic box that my glock came in and found two empty bullet casings in a small envelope. It looks like the glock factory put it there since the envelope has the guns serial number , technician name etc. . What are these empty casings for? thank you for your replies. You got a permit to ask stupid Questions?"

Re: Glock empty casings
They are for registration in New York and Maryland (not sure if there are others)
The easiest way to track crime scene brass to a peticuler firearm is the machine marks on the breachface and fireing pin. The marks leave a (fingerprint) on the fired case.Last edited by MaDuece; May 22nd, 2011 at 07:50 PM.

They have tiny radiowave transmitters in them so the goverment knows where to find you.
Just kidding.
They are probably test rounds to show the gun was function tested. Someone will be along shortly with a post with a definite answer. Some people just plain suck.

Test fire cases. Most new pistols come with them these days.

Re: Glock empty casings
I believe that's the common misconception about that brass included in the box. The problem is, if you shoot 3000 rounds through that gun, the firing pin markings are going to be vastly different on the 3001th round versus the 1st and second rounds. The extractor markings will be different as well. They may get a close match, but probably not something that would hold up in court.

Re: Glock empty casings
It takes a long long time with MANY rounds fired before brass changes the machining marks in steel. The breachface machine marks are the same on case 1 as they are on case 5000.
"They" do prefer that the public follows CSI and only discards the barrel "if" they do something wrong with a firearm.Last edited by MaDuece; May 22nd, 2011 at 08:56 PM.
