Re: making a purchase while waiting for ltcf
A LTCF has no bearing on buying a firearm.
Go get it

Re: making a purchase while waiting for ltcf
The only difference is that if you don't have the LTCF, the store will package your ammo and gun in separate bags for transport. Otherwise you're good to go! Have fun shopping!

Re: making a purchase while waiting for ltcf
Not sure but when I was at Tanner's, they asked me if I had my LTCF because if I didn't they had to bag up my ammo and my gun separately because I thought you could not have the ammo in the same place as you have your gun if you transport in a vehicle without a LTCF.
I could be wrong, but that's what Tanner's said. *Shrug*"Stupid people are ruining America." --Herman Cain

Re: making a purchase while waiting for ltcf
Transport requires loaded mags to be in a separate compartment from the weapon. IIRC you can have loose or boxed ammo with an unloaded gun assuming you meet a transport exception...however I have been told differently when I purchased guns before. My guess is to avoid any issues, gun shops recommend that everything be separate. Sometimes people are too hard-headed to understand that THIS (boxed/loose ammo w/ gun) is not the same as THAT (5 loaded 30 round AK mags in a duffel bag containing their new underfolder) and when they get stopped their argument is that "XYZ gun shop said it's fine!"
Keep in mind that while I and many on this board understand that what a gun shop employee tells you is NOT legal advice, some people will mistakenly assume that "they must know what they're talking about."

I bought a gun at a shop and had a pics check while waiting for my ltcf and had no problem.
