Safe will not open ... what now?
Seriously, what do you do? Send in the card, etc. for the key? Wait weeks?
No, I've got the combination correct, it just won't open. No range day tomorrow

Re: Safe will not open ... what now?
Based on what you said, if this is an electronic lock, try fresh batteries, (but not too fresh, there are some of the new high energy batteries that have caused problems as discussed in a thread some time ago). Did you have a programmed combo or is it the factory default combo? If you have a programmed one, try the factory default which should be on the original paperwork. If you did not get the backup key, now is the time! (I have a safe and still did not so I cannot be too harsh on that)
If you have to get a key, call them and see if you can expedite the service, some companies allow it, some not so much. Good luck.

Re: Safe will not open ... what now?
If it is an electronic lock, under the plastic front will be a small port for an electronic passcode bypass only a licensed locksmith would have access to the temp passcode to open even if the batterys are low,and the batterrys should be located inside the door,if in outside of the door you would have les of a problem. ! If its a tumbler only lock again a licensed locksmith would be able to open without any damage to the lock ! good luck !

Re: Safe will not open ... what now?
Thanks for the comments.
Interesting problem - solved. Full size Stack-On combination safe, NOT electronic. The lugs would not retract past the lock side of the safe by around 1/16" - 1/8". They were throwing, but not all the way, not enough to budge the door. Solution - retracted as far as they would go and used a large bladed screwdriver to carefully pry the door open. Lubed the lugs well and tapped them back fully retracted with a rubber hammer. Worked the handle a couple of times, fixed.
I think this was actually a lubrication problem. I may see if the handle assembly is accessible from the interior for more lube.

Re: Safe will not open ... what now?
thanks for the update, glad you got it open
my safe's locking bars have recently been ever so lightly "scraping" while opening the door. I think I may need to do the same thing. Tap the locking bars back to fully retracted.
