Are you this much of a gun lover?

I spent the weekend in the Workers Paradise of Massachusetts, teaching a select group of people (i.e. those who had the money and the inclination to spend it on me) how to make things round on a lathe. Although it is a repressive state, the shooting sports still exist, and many of the attendees at my demo had seen a You Tube video of me working at the lathe while carrying openly. But towards the end of the second day, one of my students came up to me and said the following:

"I know you are a big gun guy, from the conversations we have had, and the pictures I have seen. My son is a big gun guy too. He's so much into guns, he named his son Maxim. And he has one too! In fact, he bought two, and sold one for enough money to pay for his own. I help him assemble belts for it from time to time."

This guy has a son who named his own son for a machine gun! And then, he went out and found one to own and shoot. I can just imagine what Mrs. Plinker would have done to me if I had tried to name one of our kids after a gun. Of course, the way they can all talk on full auto, maybe I should have.

I might get away with naming a pet after a gun, but no way one of the kids (although my sons are 23 and 20 and gun guys themselves, so they probably wouldn't have minded - as long as I didn't name one of them Glock )

Wasn't the auto firing in that ABC travesty show in Mass. Must have some big automatic weapons group up there. I would have been in real trouble if I named any kid after a gun...
