    Default Chester CLEO NFA friendly?

I'm finally in a somewhat permanent position for the first time in my life (recently separated from the military). Now, I can finally look into building my first SBR. I'm new to PA and am still trying to grasp the very peculiar (to me) rules and laws here. I still can't figure out the reason for borough's and townships. Anyway, my question is twofold.

First, who counts as the CLEO for Chester Co; the Sheriff or the Chief of Police?

Second, does anyone have any first hand information regarding the current climate regarding NFA here in Chester Co? Is it a friendly one?

    Many thanks!

    Welcome to the forums.

Here's a couple of the websites. I know that she is Pro-2nd, but I don't know how willing she is to sign off for NFA goodies.

I know there's gotta be someone on here who knows for sure.

I haven't had any NFA items signed off for myself, but everyone says that getting the sign off is no problem. The guy who held the class for my Utah non-resident permit had their office sign off on a couple of silencers with no issues.

Thanks for the warm welcome and replies.
I'll be filling out my paperwork next month to register a stripped AR lower I've been saving.

On a related topic, everyone at work is telling me there are no indoor/outdoor shooting ranges in the area. Is this really true???

I was stationed in Idaho and Montana for a total of 9 years so I'm used to just walking out back and blasting to my hearts content.

Things are a little different out east.

I have atleast 3 ranges within a 25 minutes drive of my house. The range I belong to, Lower Providence Rod and Gun Club, has an indoor pistol range and an outdoor 100 yard rifle range. They are working to make another outdoor pistol range.

There is the Kimberton Gun Club. A buddy of mine belongs to that one. It's outdoor ranges only.

There's lots more too, but I don't know them all.

No, they have no idea what they are talking about.

    Indoor public ranges near you...

Also check out this site, they list all the clubs near us, and the free state game lands range (SGL 43, which may still be closed for lead remediation).

I think Kimberton is closest to you...

SCCSFA is near Kennett Square, I have been there and it is really nice.

Lots of clubs have a place for a sponsor on the membership app, but if you go to a meeting to apply for membership you shouldn't have any problem joining without knowing anyone. There are members of all these clubs on this forum too, shouldn't be tough to find someone to show you around the club you are interested in.

I'm considering getting my hands on a suppressor for my AR-15. How did you make out with yours?

    Is she still NFA friendly?

I didn't get the impression that the ChesCo sheriff is 2A-friendly. When I renewed my CCW earlier this year the sheriff's office moved up the expiration date to five years to the day from the date of issue. In past years when I've renewed my CCW, the expiration date never changed and was always five years from the previous CCW's expiration date. In effect, the new CCW cheated me out of about three months of paid time for the permit.

I'm also interested in knowing of others' experiences in getting BATFE Form 4 signed off for Class III goodies. I've had my eye on an M16, but I've never bothered to pursue it thinking that there was little likelihood I would be able to get sign-off on the Form 4.
