Light for XD
Can anyone reccommend a pistol light for home defense? I have a Springfield XD 9 SC. I know they sell a light as part of their XD Gear line but wasn't sure how it stacked up against what else may be on the market. I'm hoping some people here have some experience using them.
Thanks!

I have the Springfield Armory XML which is made for Springfield by insight technologies. It is a decent light for it's size but insight also makes the X2L which is a compact light and laser.

I have the same pistol and I've been looking at the XML. I just haven't pulled the trigger on it yet... I'd be worried about some of the other lights since they'd be way out in front of the barrel.

Re: Light for XD
I've seen Insight SSL-1's for under $80 recently. I prefer the controls over the surefire.

Whatever light you go with, be sure to _be sure_ that it will fit the Sub Compact.
Sure it's the same style rail, but it's closer to the trigger guard, and shorter than the other XD models.
And if you find anything besides the X2/XL2 that fits, please let me know. I'd love something with a bit more than 40 lumens. Until then, I'm sticking with a Surefire 6PD in my left hand.
Besides, I just love saying "crenellated bezel".

Re: Light for XD
Ah, SC stands for "subcompact"
In that case, the only thing that will fit is the fair-at-best proprietary light.

Re: Light for XD
agreed, a handheld light will do you more good with a carry gun anyway.
