Default Could the ammo panic be easing a bit?

This is the second time now in the last 2 weeks, I've been to our local wal-mart, and I've actually seen some pistol ammo on their shelves. Was there this weekend buying shotgun shells for dove season, and noticed they hade several 100 round value packs of 9mm, a few boxes of .45acp, and a few other calibers. Not alot of ammo mind you but enough to convince me that maybe this ammo panic is starting to ease a bit. Hope this trend continues.

It has definitely eased. I can get ammo at early 2008 prices online just about any time I want.

Walmart is another story. They still have the cheapest handgun practice ammo but they have raised prices at least twice in the past 2 years. I don't expect those prices to go back down. And availability there has only picked up slightly.

Agree. My local walmart rarely has 9mm or .45 WWB.

walmarts around here seem to be having ammo on the shelves alot more lately.

$8.97 for 50 rounds blazer brass or federal champion 9mm practice ammo. 100 rounds of WWB for $19.97 (or somewhere right around there...under $20 in any case). 50 rounds of UMC for just over $10.

    from what websites?

i'd like to be able to have ammo shipped to my house again, but i've been finding the online stuff, when i can even find it, is still significantly more expensive than walmart (which did not used to be the case).

Those prices are so, two weeks ago. Are you still seeing those prices?

I infer from your post you are talking about pistol ammo. Like I said, Walmart is still top dog on pistol ammo although only barely at this point. My comment was about rifle ammo. If you need websites for 5.56 I can help.

actually, i haven't bought any ammo for about 3 weeks. so, i dunno...i'll have to check it out. i hope they still have reasonable prices. i would not have expected them to go up as supply seemed to be increasing/demand dropping.

to be honest, i have more or less stopped shooting my AR because of ammo prices. i have a little bit of a stash of 5.56, but it's probably just going to keep sitting there at least until pistol training season is over. i have also been seeing relatively decent prices on 5.56 ammo lately as well on a few websites, though.

    thanks for the reply.
