    Default Transportation by friend?

I moved to Centre County for a job temporarily. I used to live downtown State College by the University so I left my pistol at home locked up in my parents house just because the drinking, college kids and everything else I just felt more secure not having it with me. However I just moved outside of town a bit and when I last visited my parents I forgot to pick up my pistol. (Theres a state game land w/ free ranges that I wanted to use this summer.) My friend is coming up and bringing a few firearms for some Sunday afternoon shooting. My question is, can I have him pick up my gun and transport it to me, he also holds a LTCF and is a trustworthy fellow.

It's my understanding of PA law that one can loan a gun to someone who holds a LTCF... so I think that would cover you in this situation.

    Should be perfectly fine.
18 Pa.C.S. § 6115: Loans on, or lending or giving firearms prohibited

    (a) Offense defined.--No person shall make any loan secured by mortgage, deposit or pledge of a firearm, nor, except as provided in subsection (b), shall any person lend or give a firearm to another or otherwise deliver a firearm contrary to the provisions of this subchapter.
    (b) Exception.--
    (1) Subsection (a) shall not apply if any of the following apply:
    (i) The person who receives the firearm is licensed to carry a firearm under section 6109 (relating to licenses).

As posted above, the LTCF exempts one from the prohibition on loaning. Also for the bebefit of others that may find this in a search, that only applies to "firearms" as defined by 18Pa.C.S.6102, which is essentially handguns for your purpose. Long guns (not NFA) have no such restriction and can be loaned to any resident able to lawfully possess same. LTCF not required.
