🤔 Troubled tip — Questions about $3,000 left for waitress
😲WTF There are now questions about whether a $3,000 tip left for a waitress earlier this year was real or part of a scam.
SCRANTON, Pa. — Earlier this summer, we told you about the very generous tip left for a waitress at Alfredo's Pizza in Scranton. Now, the restaurant owners say they're taking the big tipper to court.
Back in June, the staff at Alfredo's were shocked when a customer paid a $13 bill and left a $3,000 tip for his server Mariana Lambert.

They wouldn't have this problem if they would just pay their employees a complete wage, eliminate tipping and stop depending on the kindness of their customers to involve themselves in the employer-employee wage relationship.

How much would a couple slices of pizza and a Pepsi cost then?
I don*t mind tipping my servers, especially when the service is exceptional.
Leaving a huge tip on a credit card and then disputing it is a Dick move.
Seems like he was actually trying to screw over the business.

Make the scammer honor his tip. He got his face on the news for being a big shot, now put it back on the the news for being a scammer.

I wonder if the tipper and the server may just may have been working together.
Tipper leaves $3k tip, server gets paid, splits cash with tipper, tipper disputes CC charge to get funds returned. If that's the case, tipper should have just kept his mouth shut and reported card stolen, and it might have worked. But he blabbed to the media. Chargeback should be denied, at minimum.

Re: 🤔 Troubled tip — Questions about $3,000 left for waitress
If the restaurant increases prices by 15% and gave that increased amount to the staff, it would cost you exactly the same as if you tip 15% on the current price.
The difference is that the customer doesn't have to deal with all the tipping bullshit, the staff are guaranteed the money, and problems described in the OP don't exist.
