    Default Verizon 7.1 Mbps DSL?

I currently have 3.0 speed and was notified that I can now get 7.1. Anyone else go from Verizon 3.0 to 7.1 DSL speed? How noticeable is the speed increase in actual use?

They'll send me a new router/modem and first 6 moths are free, after tat $10 per month for the higher speed.

Verizon has been very reliable for me over the many years I've had DSL with them, unfortunately it appears that FIOS will not be available for either Internet or TV in my area for quite some time.

Heh, I remember the days of the 9.6 kbit/s dial-up modem and text (non-graphical) browsers).

Remember Gopher, Archie, Veronica and Lynx?...Just to throw around some ancient Internet terms

They've been installing fios on my street for some time now. It should be available next month. I can't wait.. I'm sick of direct tv, so I will be getting the package deal with internet, tv and phone. I have verizon dsl now.

What speed DSL do you have?

Yeah, I'd love to have FIOS TV, cable sucks and I don't want to go with Direct TV.

Here's the verizon speed test site. Your actual speed should be a little below your "promised" speed.

Can't comment on the DSL ... but they just bumped my Fios from ~ 10Mbps to around 20Mbps. Haven't noticed to much change

I really don't download a whole lot of crap ... basic websurfing, so didn't plan on see too much of a difference. If your not downloading a bunch of stuff, the laws of diminishing returns really starts to take effect.

I had Comcast cable for internet and TV. They told me my internet speed was 3MB/384K up at the time. I never got close to that. TV always dropped in a storm as well.

I have been enhjoying my FiOS 20/5MB internet connectivity for a a couple years now. TV was added about 7 months ago. Had a two interruptions to Internet in 2 years. TV is improved as well.
