Default Interesting 9mm pistol test site

    http://www.best9mm.com/

Good site for some good, no bull mini reviews on 9 mm pistol platforms. His thoughts seem to be on the mark most of the time. Enjoy!!

    Good site indeed.

The only thing I'd debate is his review of the glock 19. In it he said to "avoid used worn out police guns". You can buy a LE trade-in G19 for $300.00. I don't know any cop that has used his Glock so much in the line of duty that it has become worn out. I wonder what his thoughts are on buying "used, worn out" civilian Glocks?

There are some guys over at Glocktalk that refuse to buy one new.

Anything that could possibly wear out is ridiculously cheap & easy to replace.

That's actually not a bad idea. I always liked buying guns new. But a new Glock is going to have as much wear on it someday as the used one does.

The only problem with that is if it's a very old model and hasn't had any of the upgrades.

My glock 26 was purchased used from rule10b5, my 19 purchased used from ddg9. Overall, this saved me about $125 for each gun and they might as well be new.

Since then glock extended it's LE discount to EMS personnel, so a new one might be in my future ($396 new), but for most people, used is the best way to go. For the record, I've seen glocks with way over 100,000 rounds that aren't even close to worn out. a 10yo police gun probably has less rounds through it than I've put through mine in a weekend.

Of the 5 glocks I have, I've only bought 1 NIB and that was a 20th anniversery 17. I've brought police trade ins with no issues at all and I bough them from the every day joe schmoe. As long as they get properly inspected and you get any of the worn parts replaced you should be good to go.
I'm in the same boat as MarcS w/ the "Homeland security" formerly the LE discount extended now to include fire/ems I just may by one NIB; mabye a 21.

oh, and not hyjack the thread, nice site!

Too bad they limited the reviews to sub $500 pistols. Mine is just over that mark.

Anything that needs to be replaced for reliability, Glock will replace for free. Nobody really needs the loaded-chamber-indicator extractor or finger grooves. Besides the slide, frame, barrel, and firing pin, you can get almost every part in a Glock for less than $10.

Just chiming in on buying used Glocks:

I won't buy them new anymore. Anything that needs replacing can be replaced by me, in a matter of minutes, for pennies.

Any defect serious enough to "trash" the gun will be spotted with a simple detail strip. If you see something seriously wrong, don't buy the gun -- or buy it for a huge discount and send it to Glock and they'll fix it.

And how's that 26 treating you, Marc? Want to sell it back?
