Carrying in boat
I was wondering, if I'm in my boat on the Delaware river is it legal to carry in my boat? I have a PA CC, but I know that NJ state police and the coast guard patrol the river so I'm guessing no. does maritime law apply?

Re: Carrying in boat
Hmmm, interesting question. I'm just speculating here, so don't go acting on what I say or anything.
As the Delaware is not an ocean, I don't see how maritime law could apply. The PA/NJ border is mostly(not entirely) right down the middle of the river, so I would think that as long as you are on the PA side of the border, you'd be legal. I mean you are in PA after all. NJSP don't get to extend NJ law into PA.
I am not an attorney.

Re: Carrying in boat
AFAIK The Delaware river is a shared area between PA and NJ. So long as you are docked on the PA side of the river and don't go ashore in NJ you should be fine.

Re: Carrying in boat
That was good I'll try to play that next time I go out. I honestly heard different things from other fellow boaters, the NJ state police patrol the Delaware, but they cannot patrol the PA coves/inlets, I guess it might be worth a call to both state police.
When the weather is nice sometimes we anchor over night and have a cook out then go to sleep later so it's nice to be able to pack if it's legal, ya never know how far the Pirates may come LOL.
PS: the PA game commission patrol the PA covesLast edited by fritz1; November 22nd, 2009 at 11:40 PM.
