Default Spanish Mauser in 7.62x51 NATO

Does anyone have any experience with this rifle? I have the chance to pick up either this rifle or a Mosin M38, both in excellent condition, for about the same price. I don't currently have a rifle in either caliber, so I would be starting fresh. Any suggestions or opinions as to which I should get? Thanks very much.

All I recall was that these were popular in the early 80's, had to be SAMCO or Century Arms bringing them in.

Those and the Isreali K98s in .308Nato too.

IIRC, the FR7/8s were supposedly 7.62x5XCetme?? And that the 1916s were supposedly scary at .308???

Someone will chime in with the truth. All I know is that the idea of a Mauser in a non-corrosive caliber is great.

My buddy has a 1918 Spanish Mauser in 7.62 Nato, IIRC.

I've shot it, and they make a big boom, but 7.62nato is getting harder to find and more expensive every time he buys it. Just keep that in mind if you go with the rifle.

I happen to have a Spanish FR8 in 7.62X51 Nato.
