Tin Foil Hat Theories - What would you do if they happened?

I read a LOT and yes I come across a LOT of "tin foil hat" stuff, you know the kind that makes you say "oh for the love of god, where do they come up with this nonsense" .. so anyways, this morning I came across what I thought was the accumulation of a lot of these so-called tin hats theories into one theory.

Now I read this story with my normal amount of suspicion but it was a compelling story, almost decent book material to be honest. It was weird because normally I would read this stuff, move on and that would be that ... this one was different. Been on my mind all day and I have really been thinking "if this really did happen (not saying it would) what would my family and I do?"

So if I could indulge you, lets NOT debate the truth or falsehood of any of these "tin foil hat" theories, lets pretend this has all come to pass ... say its a SCI FI movie if you must, or for you gamers a new video game. I would seriously like the people here to think about what the would do IF this indeed happened: Here the story line:

The US economy has basically collapsed, the dollar worthless and inflation has run rampant (think Zimbabwe). Because of this the government itself has become shaky at best. People are MAD and getting madder every day for the lack of basic foods and other necessities become impossible to find and as services such as electricity start to fail. The major cities break out in riots and mobs have armed themselves with whatever they can find, attacking the public offices demanding help while also looting stores and robbing anyone they think has food.

Things come to the point of civil war and the US government declares martial law based on a law that was passed during a secret session of congress earlier this year. Once declared this law requires all national guard and police to federalized. All weapons are to be turned into local police offices under the law. The law also mandates that all people on the governments "watch list", people that have questioned the governments intentions, self proclaimed patriots, gun rights advocates and any other "problem types" are to be rounded up and detained in FEMA camps until further notice. Families are torn apart, people disappear overnight ... anyone with an opinion is locked up.

So there's the scenario and my question to you would be "what would YOU do?"

and AGAIN PLEASE ... I did NOT create this thread to debate any of these theories, I know as well as most here do that the truth usually lies someplace between the tin foil hats and the main stream media and its everyone job to find that truth for themselves. I also DID NOT start this thread to be a "doom and gloomer" or to worry people, while I do think things are going to get bad economically I have a hard time believing it could get this bad! I know if I asked this at the other forum I frequent the tin foilers would come out of the woodwork and I don't want that .. I'd like to hear what I consider "some normal every day folks" (well that applies to most the people around here anyways ;-) )

My reason for this thread is only because after reading this story and dismissing most of it as "too far out there" a little voice in the back of my head kept saying "It may be WAY out there but what would YOU (meaning me) do if it really happened"

As far as the world going to hell, riots, etc... I would probably grab my family and take them to a friend's house. He's got more guns and ammo out the wazzoo. I'd pack anything essential and bug out.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too, I have a friend that has 200 acres in NY state with enough supplies for years to come. Between him and I really think we could do well for a long LONG time (weapons wise and smarts wise)

I'd probably load up the truck and bug out to my friends ranch, which is a abandoned town they bought several decades ago. It's secluded and practically inaccessible except by 4WD.

Makes me wish I bought that converted missile silo with private air strip in Saranac Lake, NY that I saw for sale a few years ago. Problem was I couldn't come up with the Two Mil $.

If anyone is interested, there is (of course) a site specifically dealing with these tin foil hat types. Everything from 9/11 conspiracy to Situation X (zombie attacks, end of the world stuff).

Pretty easy ... similar to what everyone else has said.

I would grab my wife and dogs, plus all the food, guns, ammo, hard assets that I could grab and head out into the sticks. There are enough people out there that have similar mindsets that I would feel pretty safe.

If I could make it to the 1000 acre ranch in montana my wife's uncle owns... that is where I would want to be.

If I couldn'yt make it there (for whatever reason) ... head for the hills... or hunker down and defed the homestead
