Thumbs down What not to do when selling your home

I've been looking for a home here in Allegheny county and I'll leave it that, considering the subject matter.

So I click on this house and I'm looking at the interior pictures when my jaw dropped open. This home is listed with the street address.

When selling your home make sure the realtor doesn't put pictures on the net of your wood and glass gun cabinet filled with guns.

Yeah wow...that's really dumb. That or any valuables should just not be advertised.

    Maybe they were bragging?

Either way, selling your home is tough--everyone has items of SOME sort of value, be it big screens or movies or computers or whatever. If a person is going to rob you, they're going to rob you.

Who knows, maybe a stash of guns might deter the would be robber, because if they have that many rifles, how many pistols do they have? And how many of them are in the night stand next to their bed?

The problem I see with this is that most house showings occur when the owner is out. A criminal could easily set up a showing knowing full well that there are guns there, knock out the agent and take everything. They wouldn't even have to break in since they would be granted entry.

Yea, I think I would leave the Gun Cabinet out of the picture if possible.

I doubt the average thug is perusing the real estate listings. Even if they were, you get plenty of people who cover the cars in their driveways with NRA stickers that pretty much announce the same exact thing to any would-be robber. That's probably a much bigger risk than a glimpse of a gun cabinet in a real estate ad.

Agreed...I didn't even think about that.

But that said, what's stopping the average thug from doing that anyway, guns in a pic or no guns?

I mean really, practically every house on the market has some really nice things worth a good bit of money.
