    you mean legaly??

no, and you dont need 10 us parts, you just cant use more than 10 foreign parts.

that usually = 6 us parts

a us receiver will be one part. a fcg is usually recomended, thats 3 more.

that leaves 2 more pars to change.

most popular are pistolgrips, buttstocks, gas pistons, muzzle devices, and front handguards.

"how the hell can they know if the parts are foreign or domestic?"

You hit the nail on the head! Up until very recently, none of the U.S. made parts were marked "Made in The U.S. so there was no way to prove that they were U.S. made!

There are some good US trigger groups that'll add 3 pieces to the component list. Trigger, hammer and disconnector. I personally prefer the double hook group.

US gas piston can be had, but if your bolt carrier already as a foreign piston - its a bitch to change out. ... a real bitch.

Go with a US receiver, (3) piece trigger group, butt stock, grip and forearm handguard(7 parts total). If you plan to get a crap load of magazines - it wouldn't be worth it to buy floor plates and followers for all of them - better to use mil-surp mags for cheap savings and it wont matter what make of mag you pickup to use..

    No.

There are about only 20 parts that the BATF considers a "firearm part". Of the 20 or so, only 16 are within a AK platform if its a stamped receiver. 15 if its a milled receiver.

    1. receiver
    2. barrel
    3. muzzle attachment
    4. gas piston
    5. trunnion (part into which barrel is inserted, only on stamped guns)
    6. bolt
    7. bolt carrier
    8. hammer
    9. disconnector
    10. trigger
    11. buttstock
    12. pistol grip
    13. handguard set (counts as one even though two parts)
    14. magazine body
    15. magazine follower
    16. magazine floorplate.

Of the 16 parts above on a stamped receiver - you have to have no more than 10 foreign made parts. That means you must have 6 US made parts. With milled receivers - the trunnion is actually part of the receiver. ..not a part that is riveted in.
