Default Can you get into trouble?

    B"H

Hello guys, hope everyone is doing great.
I was wondering if you could get into trouble if you shoot your gun in the air to shoo off some one who is on your property and wont leave even after you ask them in a very nice way to leave.

    Thank you

p.s. this is not a made up situation i am talking ; but most of this happened to me yesterday.

Why the fuck would you shoot into the air? People have been killed and seriously injured by jackwagons doing that.

Warning shots are always a bad idea. If the mere presentation of a firearm doesn't cause a person to leave, then your choice is to wait and see if they escalate it further and you need to defend yourself for real.

Always remember, you are 100% responsible for every bullet that leaves your gun, if you shoot into the air and it kills a kid a couple houses down, you're gonna go to jail.

I would supose you could possible be charged with reckless endangerment for discharging into the air. Otherwise it would depend on local zoning ordances for discharging firearms, safety zones apply to hunting. I would be careful discharging into the air it has to come down somewhere.

    Not good!

We do not fire "warning shots". It is a highly irresponsible thing to do. Where does that round go when you pop one off into the air? You have no fucking idea!

The gun is not to be used as a means of intimidation. Introduction of the gun into an encounter should only be as a means of defending against an otherwise unavoidable threat of grave bodily injury or death. Trying to intimidate another into vacating your property buy waving a gun around or worse firing a round into the air is reckless and dangerous.

Please, do yourself and everyone else a favor and get some training.

Some are smart. Some are JUST old. Most are neither.

    --------------

I can never foresee an instance where it would be a good idea to shoot into the air as a fright tactic. It is no good logically, practically, legally, and tactically.

    Reckless endangerment???? How???
i aint discharging for fun. i want to scare him enough to leave my property and at the same time I want him to know i am serious about it.
Are you saying that it is better to shoot the guy than scare him?????
