Texas parents battle school over son's long locks
BALCH SPRINGS, Texas - The parents of a pre-kindergarten student nicknamed "Tater Tot" are battling a suburban Dallas school's decision to segregate their son because his long locks violate the district dress code.
Taylor Pugh again found himself facing in-school suspension on Wednesday. The Mesquite school district is keeping Taylor in the library apart from his classmates because his floppy hair falls in his eyes and extends below his earlobes and shirt collar.
The school district says all students must adhere to the code of conduct.
But Taylor's parents say they won't cut his hair, even after they said the school principal threatened to permanently suspend their 4-year-old son from school. The right to bear arms isn't for hunting bear. Subliminal Messages

School Boards rank right down there with HOAs and Parking "Officers."
Nothing is more dangerous to freedom than a bureaucrat with absolute power.

Well , I am glad I read the whole thing . I first thought he was singled out on this but then saw it a policy for everyone . I do feel sorry for the kid because he is just being used as a pawn by his stupid parents .
Don't blame me ; I voted for an American .

Re: Cut your hair.... or else!
IMO the way to fix the problem is not to use your son as a tool. The way to fix this is to abide by the policy (as stupid as it is) and change it through voting in a new school board. Maybe going to the PTA meetings and getting other parent's to push for a change in the policy.
Just because I don't like the drug laws in this country does not mean I should start my own grow opperation and start smoking weed on camera and broadcast it nationally/internationally.

Re: Cut your hair.... or else!
How can we expect kids to obey any laws if we sit and sue because we dont like them?
I dont like the NFA and the GCA of 86, but that doesnt mean I go out and yell about conformists and build my own MG and expect everything to be OK. This is part of a uniform, and is required if they want to go to that school. There is a choice. Go to another school.
Next you are going to support some athiest trying to get prayer taken out of a catholic school and yell about conformists.

Those parents are asshats. I fully support dress and grooming standards in school and the workplace.
If they feel strongly enough about it, they should pull him out of school and home school him.
