Any medical doctors carry?
Are there any medical doctors that carry out there? If so, could there be any kind of conflict with the hypocratic oath and finding yourself stuck in a situation where you may have no choice but to defend yourself with your weapon? I wonder what could come of that?

Re: Any medical doctors carry?
My Family Doctor just stopped over to show me his new Ruger .22 w/ Suppressor. He shoots on my range with us every once in awhile. I have known him since he was in High School, sort of groomed him. For shooting that is, not for being a Doctor
I have taken my Child in for physicals and it turns into gun talk. He also shoots IDPA often.
Be safe (and in good hands).

I think you're supposed to break that one.
The Hippocratic Oath doesn't contain any obligation to refrain from self defense. And it's not a legal obligation, though many of its principles are part of our laws.
Most hospitals (around here at least) do forbid carry though.

Not an MD but Ph.D. doc here waiting for my LTCF to come through. Have been shooting for about a year now and have acquired a nice bunch of pistols with a looooooong "want" list. Have yet to find a hobby more relaxing than shooting. Absolutely love it.

I know of a doctor, by me, who keeps a shotgun under his desk. Nice guy, from what I'm told, too.

Re: Any medical doctors carry?
I know an M.D. that carries a .38 snubby at all times, knowing his personality I have no doubt that he would pull the trigger in defense.
will that extra 15% matter? not as much as being able to put one in their face. ~Edg

One of my wife's clients is a Dr. and she carries all the time. We are tentative for a family shoot in the near future.

Re: Any medical doctors carry?
While in the ER a couple of years ago, in conversation with the attending doctor firearms and carry came up. He carries everywhere but work. It's prohibited for him. My club has a dentist who carries.
The oath they take has nothing to do with refraining from self-defense. I would imagine that in their profession the sides of the debate are like it is everywhere else. Some are for it, some are against it and some are willing to let others choose for themselves within the laws. When the SHTF......be the fan.

My wife is a Physician Assistant (about as close to an MD as you can get without actually becoming one) and she carries. Two other PA's and 1 MD in her practice carry as well. Another Dr at the practice has a shit ton of guns but no "carry" worthy pistols.
When you are called a racist, it just means you won an argument with an Obama supporter.
