Tell me about Allentown.
Can anyone tell me about Allentown? Specifically what parts of town are good and what parts are bad? Is there a lot of crime?
My wife is spending ten weeks there on an internship. I just want to get the lowdown.
Thanks
Michael

Re: Tell me about Allentown.
Does she have to stay *IN* allentown. Emmaus is on the outskirts and is probably 1000 times safer than the actual city of allentown. I don't know a whole lot about the area but I travel there from time to time. Downtown isn't an area that I personally would want to LIVE in (generally it's pretty ghetto), but there are some bars and clubs etc that are good to visit at night. Thats about the best I can do for you. Hope it helps.

Re: Tell me about Allentown.
Allentown from the Lehigh River to about 13 St from the Little Lehigh Creek to about Washington St are free fire zones from dusk to dawn.
If she is interning at Sacred Heart Hospital, she should definitely request security escort to her car in the garage. The other hospitals in Allentown are pretty okay.
Whaer will she be interning? (I'm assuming she is in health care.)Veritas Vos Liberat

Re: Tell me about Allentown.
I agree with everything except the dusk to dawn time frame. you should have said ROUND THE CLOCK free fire zones.
Years back when I worked construction we were doing a major rework on Harrison Morton school at 2nd and Turner. We had the daily delite of being locked in every day "for our OWN SAFETY" as they put it.
One morning, just after starting work we heard a loud bang out front. We all ran to the front to see what was going on and here someone standing IN a house across the street from the school had shot out thru the house window and shot a guy standing on the sidewalk infront of the school. Police said it WAS drug related.
Most places people will make comments such as "they will steal anything not nailed down" Well in that area " They carry hammers to get the stuff that is nailed down"

Re: Tell me about Allentown.
Allentown is hit or miss. I lived maybe 1hr from there in the Pocono's.
The Pocono's has turned into a shit hole so I can only imagine how bad Allentown has gotten. Not trying to scare you. It's not like inner city, but it's the biggest town in that area of the state. Like most modest sized towns, crime grew quicker then law enforcement. Try visiting the local newspaper, they always print the ugly. http://www.mcall.comFUCK BIDEN
